1. Love, Life, and Elephants by Daphne Sheldrick
I highly recommend Love, Life, and Elephants by Daphne Sheldrick. In this beautifully written autobiography, Daphne tells her life story about living in a Kenyan national park and raising orphaned elephants with her husband David Sheldrick. Daphne’s love for the wild animals of Africa is clear in her vivid descriptions of them. The animals are as much main characters in this book as the people are. Through trial and error, Daphne learns how to care for a wide variety of orphans including rhinos and elephants. Inspire your wanderlust because this specific national park and the elephant orphanage are places you can visit in Kenya.
When I travel, I want it to be a meaningful experience that will enrich my life. I seek out adventures that give an in-depth experience to a location and their culture. Traveling is my passion and along with adventure stories, I also review books and supplies that are related to those adventures.

3. The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
This fairytale tells the story of the last Unicorn and her journey to find others like her. The Unicorn leaves her life of solitude and comfort to venture out into the messy world in order to make sure that unicorns can continue to live throughout the earth. She’s faced with tribulations that make her become more human and able to comprehend the mundaneness that life brings and the glory that comes with that.
I love how the book shows the magic that surrounds us and is within us all. The unicorn shows that we should venture forward, lean on those who stand by us, continually learn, grow and humble ourselves, and hope in what is to come. And of course, it’s a story about a unicorn, so that’s awesome.
